Cluster flies are a parasitic fly which lay their eggs in to the ground surrounding your home. When the adults emerge in late September they congregate in their hundreds, sometimes thousands before looking for a nice warm spot to over-winter. This often ends up being your loft space. The Cluster Flies also lay down a pheromone which then tells every successive generation of cluster flies where to go to be safe, so the problem gradually gets worse and worse. Often, as well as your loft space, south facing windows will have cluster flies hiding in the frames. This is especially true for sash style windows.

Treatment for Cluster Flies is simple, we use a smoke insecticide throughout the affected areas and treat all window frames with a residual insecticide. Cluster Fly treatments are normally completed twice per year, once in October/ November and then a follow up treatment in Feb/March.
